This practical, hands-on course covers working with studio light and available light. Participants learn and practice different studio lighting set ups. Composition is discussed
and how to archive interesting character studies.

The tutor discusses various approaches and styles used in portrait photography: the unconventional portrait, the arranged portrait, the extended portrait, the candid portrait.

The tutor shows a portfolio with personal and commission work and encourages students to explore and develop imaginative ideas for their own photography.

Students practice with their own cameras. Digital files are downloaded on the computer for assessment. Films are developed and printed overnight ready for next day discussion.

At the end of the course, all the photographs taken will be evaluated through positive appraisal and constructive feedback.

Weekend courses start at 10.30am and finish at 5.00pm including a short break for lunch.
